Mesdames et Messieurs it’s official: there is time until March 15 to take part in the Francophone Jury, AKA the Jury des Jeunes Francophones,
of Bref International Short Film Festival 2026.

The call is open to young people from Italy, France, Switzerland, and Belgium, aged 18 to 25, with the aim of encouraging the participation of younger generations in the cultural life of cross-border regions. If you love cinema and the idea of discovering it through an international context of dialogue and exchange, what are you waiting for?

Why
me?

During the festival days, from April 22 to 26, participants will enjoy an immersive experience in the world of cinema, previewing the films in competition and contributing to the awarding of the Young Jury Award and the Super Bref Award for the best film with a duration of under 5 minutes.

What will you do?

In addition to the screenings, the program includes a training pathway with workshops, labs, and daily meetings with film professionals, including a masterclass dedicated to the “baddest women” of the big screen, led by Emanuela Martini, director of Cineforum.
The experience will conclude on Sunday, April 26, with the publication of a collective article on AostaSera.it and a reel on Bref’s Instagram page, dedicated to the winning film and the works that receive special mentions from the Young Jury.

Typical day

Bad Girls. Le cattivissime del cinema di tutti i tempi (e di tutti i generi)

There have been truly wicked—and irresistibly fascinating—female protagonists who have shaped the cinematic imagination of the 20th century and the early 2000s. From the first dangerous silent-era vamps to the shameless Lola Lola portrayed by Marlene Dietrich; from the determined adulterers and murderesses embodied by Bette Davis to dark ladies such as Rita Hayworth or Daryl Hannah; from the enigmatic and dangerous Sharon Stone and Glenn Close at the turn of the millennium to poisoners like Isabelle Huppert in Chabrol’s noirs, or Florence Pugh, who in 2016 took on the role of a Victorian Lady Macbeth. A journey through these women (assassins, perverse mothers, femmes fatales or lost women, spies, witches, betrayed and betraying women) who have captivated audiences: all those women whose complexity has fueled viewers’ dreams, inspired feminist theory, and led to shifts in the perception and definition of the female universe.
