Who has shaped the history of cinema? And who are the professionals working in the film industry today? By challenging the predominantly male, white, and Western-centric narrative of cinema, Heidi Honeycutt, Seggen Mikael, Gloria Puppi, and Valeria Weerasinghe seek to rewrite a more authentic history of women’s and feminist contributions, while also offering a snapshot of the industry as it stands today. Moderated by Caterina Bogno.
A leading expert on women directors in horror cinema and author of
I Spit On Your Celluloid: The History of Women Directing Horror
Movies. She is also programmer for Bloodstream, a platform
dedicated exclusively to horror, thriller, and science fiction..
Heidi Honeycutt
Project Leader of the European Film Market Toolbox Programme
for emerging producers from underrepresented or marginalized
backgrounds, particularly from the Global South. As a lecturer, their
research examines the concept of the “canon” in film history,
highlighting its white, male, and Western roots.
Seggen Mikael
Story editor, screenwriter, lecturer, and pitch trainer. Founder of
Read My Script, she supports writers and productions in shaping
their stories. She is also a member of Women in Film Television
Media Italia.
Gloria Puppi
Animation director, illustrator, and curator specializing in
independent animation. Winner of the Premio Mutti and director of
the animated short In una goccia. She is also among the creators of
Serato Animato, a traveling animation showcase.
Valeria Weerasinghe
Journalist and film critic, she is an editor at Film Tv and collaborates
with Blow Up and the Il Mereghetti – Dizionario dei film (The
Mereghetti Film Dictionary).
