Speaking of women in the world of cinema, even today a myriad of actresses come to mind but very few names among those behind the camera and in the role of director. In the silent era, things were no different, quite the contrary; and although they played an enormous role in the development of cinema itself, the women directors active at that time are hardly ever mentioned in historical texts. With ‘The Female Directors of Silent Films’, Radio Days Movie wants to remember some of the most important pioneers of the Seventh Art, from Alice Guy to Lois Weber, via Elvira Coda Notari, Lotte Reininger and Germaine Dulac. An audiovisual journey through short films, feature film clips, documentaries, comedies, thrillers, dramas and animations, with original music and arrangements by Michele Kettmaier.
